Kaawa Loa Plantation

Big Island Guide Travel Guide

Kaawa Loa Plantation offers a unique environment for the Hawaii traveler with a variety of lodging options. There is a luxury suite, a separate cottage, and four additional rooms, three with half baths and one with a full bath. The plantation is situated in a beautiful setting on a coffee and fruit farm located directly above Kealakekua and Honaunau Bay, about 26 minutes south of the village of Kailua-Kona. The main plantation building houses five of the rooms while the cottage is just a short walk away. Each of the rooms and cottage are comfortably appointed; the plantation has a large common area with a fireplace, a wrap-around lanai with rocking chairs and daybed, and a gourmet kitchen and gas grill for guest use.

Within the lush grounds of the plantation there is a hot tub, Hawaiian steam room, and two outdoor lava rock garden showers. They provide spa robes in all rooms for going out to the showers, the hot tub, and the steam. We also have an indoor shower and tub available in a large common bath for guests who prefer to bathe indoors. All the rooms feature large ceiling fans for great airflow. A delicious breakfast with homemade baked goods is served to all guests. Nearby Kealakekua and Honaunau Bay offer great opportunities for swimming, snorkeling, kayaking, and paddle boarding. The plantation provides beach chairs, umbrellas, beach towels, and boogie boards.
