Bamboo Restaurant

Big Island Guide Travel Guide

Located in a historic, fully restored plantation building at the end of the road on Hawaii’s Big Island in beautiful North Kohala, the amazing Bamboo Restaurant has something for everyone. Known for its affordable, creative, Pacific Rim menu, the island-style cuisine features freshly caught fish, classic Hawaiian food, locally-grown organic produce, grass-fed steaks and ribs, plenty of vegetarian options, and so much more.

The food is always fresh and creative with a true Hawaiian feel you won’t find anywhere else. The fish is local and fresh caught and the beef is Big Island grass fed raised. Try out some of the Bamboo Restaurant specialties like the chicken satay potstickers, the BBQ ribs with their Hawaiian pineapple barbecue sauce are simply outstanding, as are the ribeye steaks and seafood dishes. Their food is consistently cooked just right, served hot, and never disappoints, with generous portions and tasty preparations.

The service is exceptional and always makes dining here fun, along with hosting a great happy hour Tuesdays, Wednesdays and Thursdays. The restaurant has a wide variety of delicious cocktails and teas that use lilikoi (passion fruit) served in tropical style. Their lilikoi Pina Colada is delicious and a great way to cool down and chill out on a hot day!

After you’re done eating, the atmosphere and selection of interesting Hawaiian-made items at the adjoining Bamboo Gallery and gift shop make for a memorable shopping experience.

Keep in mind their hours and plan well as there isn’t a lot of wiggle room in their seating times and they are often booked up, so making a reservation is a good idea.
