Big Island Guide Travel Guide

The Hilo Municipal Golf Course is a Par 71, 18-hole golf course managed by the County of Hawaii Parks and Recreation Division. This beautifully maintained course provides stunning views of the Hilo coast and is available all year round. The Hilo Municipal Course was designed by Willard Wilkinson and was opened to the public in 1951, making it one of the oldest golf courses in Hawaii. The course has a length of 6,325 yards, a slope of 121 and a USPGA rating of 70.4 and provides varying tee levels for golfers of different skill levels.

The greens and fairways on the course are made up of Bermuda grass, and the fairways are wide enough for you to give it a rip and to challenge yourself a little. This course has no driving range, but does have a pro shop stocked with all the golfing supplies necessary for your round of golf. The course is very popular among local golfers and hosts a few small tournaments. The Hilo Municipal Course also includes the Fairway Grill restaurant that serves burgers and pub food and drinks for a perfect stop to grab a casual bite after golfing.
