Lava Lava Beach Club

Big Island Guide Travel Guide

2023 NOTE: Lava Lava Beach Club has reopened from their renovation work. The first phase wrapped up in December 2022 and the remaining items will be wrapping up in the first half of 2023. The renovation includes additional outdoor seating, remodeling the bar area, enlarging the restaurant’s restrooms, enlarging the kitchen, and expanding the parking area. The La La Lawn is also getting a mini beach bar and a retail area.

It is all about location when you are talking about the Lava Lava Beach Club in Waikoloa. Located on the Anaeho’omalu Bay with an incredible ocean view and sunsets that are stunning. Enjoy a relaxed, laid-back experience under the open air patio/bar or set your sights at a table right on the beach.

The sizzling shrimp, pork or ahi nachos, or the tipsy tots are a great way to get started. Follow up with juicy burgers, finger licking ribs, delicious fish tacos, or the fresh catch of the day.

There is live music with local musicians every evening after 5pm and the bar serves until 10pm. Lava Lava Beach Club is famous for their amazing tropical drinks, with such hits as the Bamboocha Mai Tai which comes in a large bamboo Souvenir Cup (this one is potent so be careful) and the Lava Lava Flow with their special on the rocks style.

On Sundays, get your day started with a toes in the sand beach brunch and don’t forget happy hour runs 3pm-5pm seven days a week with some delicious appetizer and drink specials to kick off your evening.

The sunset views from this restaurant are incredible and often draw a crowd so plan to get there early if you want to beat the rush. The wait can be a bit long during peak dining hours and they don’t take standard reservations, so plan accordingly. This applies to parties of 8 or less, for more than 8 you need to work out a specific reservation by calling and speaking with a manager.
