The 2026 Ironman World Championship Race will be held in Kailua Kona, Hawaii on Saturday, October 10th, 2026.
Makani Golf Club (Formerly Big Island Country Club Golf Course) is a public 18-hole championship golf course located in the picturesque Kailua-Kona region of Hawaii that is open year-round.
This oceanview course was designed by Perry Dye and features water in play on 9 of the 18 holes and wide fairways. Makani Golf Club is challenging, yet perfect for golfers of different skill levels due to the presence of five separate tee boxes.
The club opened in 1997, has a length of 7155 yards, a 142-slope rating and rating of 75.6 from the United States Golf Association (USPGA). The finishing holes, especially hole #17 are regarded as some of the most memorable and is the highlight of the golfing experience at Makani Golf Club for many golfers. The course is primarily natural landscaping with rolling hills and abundant native trees and plants and many endangered or rare birds to be seen.
Makani Golf Club has a pro shop that includes top quality golfing shoes, clothing, clubs and other unique memorabilia for sale. Golf club rentals are also available at the pro shop. The course also has a beautiful driving range, and golf carts are available. There are customizable packages on offer for avid golfers.
Public daily tee times are open to all visitors and residents at Makani Golf Club. Great Kama’aina rates are available. Makani also hosts tournaments and golf events regularly.
