Experience the Big Island’s volcanic activity, a miracle of nature that isn’t found elsewhere on planet Earth. Hawaii provides incredible access to see the red glow of molten lava.
Crater Rim Cafe is located on the Kilauea Military Camp in Hawaii Volcanoes National Park and serves breakfast, lunch and dinner. You do not have to be military or retired military to eat at the cafe but you will have to pay the fee to get into Hawaii Volcanoes National Park unless you have a pass.
The breakfast menu is fairly standard and all combo meals come with a drink. The lunch menu is a la carte and has burgers, sandwiches, salads, chili, french fries and onion rings. The grilled to order dinner menu includes steak, fried chicken, teriyaki beef, salmon, stir fry vegetables and a handful of other choices. The meal includes an all you can eat salad and potato bar, soft serve ice cream and a drink. You can also order just the potato and salad bar by itself.
The dining hall is set up cafeteria style with plenty of space and seating. On Friday nights they change up the menu and offer local dishes with a Hawaiian style buffet. There is also Hawaiian entertainment with a local Halau performing a Hula on Fridays. Adjacent to the cafe is the Lava Lounge where they have a full bar and open at four in the afternoon.
