East Hawaii Cultural Center Overview

Administered by the East Hawaii Cultural Council, this collaborative of local art organizations creates a vibrant and thriving gathering place centered on art and culture. Located in a historic police station building across from Kalakaua Park in downtown Hilo, the collective maintains high standards for aesthetic expression through exhibitions, performances and programs centered around art, theater and music.

Within the cultural center, a curated concept store called “Space” adds a fresh take on art sales and community-building through revolving exhibits that integrate and promote fine art and design. The unique team of artists, organizers and volunteers is dedicated to discovering unique opportunities for local artists and building a bridge between the creator and consumer.
