Now Part of Laverne’s Sports Bar (formerly Humpy’s Big Island Alehouse)
This oceanside pub is a favorite hangout for both locals and visitors, offering tasty grub and cold brews with an amazing Pacific view right in the heart of downtown Kona.
Manuela Malasada Company Food Trucks offer homemade Hawaiian malasadas worth raving about! Operating out of roadside trucks that are based in Waimea yet can often be found whenever there’s a concert, farmers market or main event throughout the Big Island, these Malasadas are made fresh with powder sugar, cinnamon or li hing mui.
These deep-fried, fist-sized treats similar to a donut come with optional fillings spanning from savory to sweet. You’ll get a delicious flavor sensation not easily replicated back on the mainland. Each one is made fresh after you order, so it takes just a few short minutes, but this kind of decadence is well worth the wait. The staff is friendly and mix their signature dough recipe every morning.
As you travel through Waimea Center, slow down near McDonald’s and Burger King, then just after the traffic light on the left, you’ll see their sign across the street. Another truck can often be found near the turn off to Puako on the corner of HWY 19 & Puako Beach Drive.
