Malasadas are warm doughy squares of fried deliciousness and some of the Big Island’s best can be found at Tex Drive In. These Portuguese donuts are made fresh daily and come plain, sugared or you can choose a filling for a little extra. There is even a windowed-off section so you can watch them making and frying the malasadas from scratch.
Looking for something a little less sweet? Tex Drive In offers an all-day breakfast menu as well as a lunch/dinner menu. If you’re craving a local dish, they have a large selection of loco moco and Tex Hawaiian plates. Burgers, wraps, salads, soups and more are also available. You have your choice of indoor seating or a covered outdoor patio and there is plenty of parking. Tex Drive In has been serving the Big Island since 1969, just off highway 19.
