Lagoon House at Kapoho Beach

Big Island Guide Travel Guide

2018 UPDATE: The Puna Region of the Big Island experienced extreme volcanic activity which destroyed homes in the Kapoho area – This home is no longer available.

The Lagoon House at Kapoho Beach is a Hawaiian oceanfront property in a gated community. The home is older and could use some updating but it’s spacious, including three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a large living room that can accommodate up to seven people and it’s located on an incredible geothermal lagoon. The private lagoon which is 115 feet long and 105 feet wide is filled with tons of fish and is very popular for snorkeling – it is touted by the owners as a “snorkeling aquarium”.

Some of the main amenities at the Lagoon House include: a fully equipped kitchen, high-speed internet and Wifi, cable television, and free long distance calling to the mainland United States and Canada. There is also a play area for children with board games, puzzles and a variety of children’s books. There is an outdoor barbecue at the property, snorkel gear and fish identification books are also provided.

There are also other public ponds and tide pools near the home, Champagne Pond is a few steps away from the Lagoon House, and other snorkeling and fishing options abound in the vicinity. The home is in a more rural area, so if you want to dine out or go shopping, there are restaurants and shopping opportunities about 20 minutes away from the Lagoon House. The property is approximately 40 minutes away from the Hilo International Airport. The Lagoon House at Kapoho Beach is ideally suited for families, larger groups and for people who enjoy water activities. The name says it all, this place is all about enjoying the Lagoon.
