Visit Frenchman’s Cafe in Downtown Kona
Frenchman’s Cafe is a wonderful, quiet little spot to meet your friends for breakfast; it’s a pastry shop, creperie, and restaurant. Located in the heart of Kona right off Ali’i Drive, Frenchman’s Cafe is tucked away in the Kona Marketplace Shopping Center but it’s definitely worth the search. The dishes are beautiful and even more delicious. It’s a fantastic breakfast spot and has incredibly friendly service.
The atmosphere is very relaxed and pleasant and the owners, originally from France, are some of the nicest people you’ll ever meet. The food can quickly bring back memories of Paris and sidewalk cafes. Their shop is small so if you are coming with a big group I would call for a reservation the day before. The setting is cozy but comfortable and they have both indoor and outdoor dining options.
A sweet little place, the menu board offers a wide variety of sandwiches, omelettes, crêpes and desserts as well as a selection of special coffee drinks, tea, and even hot chocolate. The menu items will sound familiar to those who have been to France. We like that they offer both sweet and savory crêpe options.
The price of the food is reasonable and the quantity good. This is one of our favorite breakfast spots in Kona. They go above and beyond to make incredible dishes and you surely won’t be disappointed. Their care for preparing the food shows in their attractive plating, with everything looking as good as it tastes!
There is a pay parking lot directly behind the shopping center, but it is a little pricy so we usually try to grab a spot in the free lot 2 blocks east, just off the Kuakini Hwy.
